The use of cranes in big building work of antiquity is argued
by historical testimonies, depictions and material discoveries or technical
details of various stones. Main components of crane were the web, the pulley-block
lifting and the whinch. The web was usually constituted by two gigantic timbers
in shaping of backwards V. The lift and stabilisation of web ensured
various things with particularly pulley-block. The pulley-block consisted of
installed, usually per two, in powerful wooden sheaths. The ropes or woollies
were from natural fibres. The whinch, constituted from
the roll or thill and the system of rotation, was essential mainly for the
handling pulley-block lifting. It was also useful and for the construction
or the down of itself web at the installation of crane or afterwards
the finalisation of his work.
Because of the non-existence way of reduction from cause of frictions of losses of mechanic work, from possession of necessary lifting force based mainly in the big length of the lever force of rotation of whinch and no in proliferation of number of pulleys. The provided from each worker force was in all the seasons - 18 20 kg. The productive from a crane force was 800 1000 kg. per worker and the lifting speed was 40 cm per minute. Consequently, for the lifting of the Parthenon architrave of height 12 m., it should work in whinch 10 until 16 workers on about half hour.
This machine is constituted by wooden constant base above water- tank, provided with turned wheel that brings eight containers in its region. Moreover, it is connected with a system with differential wheels so the movement of animals in the horizontal level moves the vertical wheel. The effigy was manufactured with base the archaeological discoveries from Perahora (300 b.c.).
The pump of Philos (260 - 180 p.H.) is manufactured from timber
and is constituted by ten buckets of transport of water the who is supported
in wooden wheel.
The wheel of (diameter 80 roughly cm, in the particular reconstruction)
is supplied with wooden winged who moves from the flow of
river places and moves and the entire mechanism. With this pump is achieved
rising of waters and their transport via closed level in the desirable
